Functions and Applications
Pit furnace base trays are mainly designed to carry workpieces for annealing, quenching, tempering and other heat treatment procedures in pit furnaces. They can effectively support large batches of workpieces for mass processing, while facilitating the uniform circulation of hot air or liquid inside the furnace. This ensures consistent heating of workpieces, enhancing the quality of heat treatment and production efficiency.


Material Characteristics
They are typically manufactured from high-strength heat-resistant alloy materials such as Cr25Ni20 and 310S. These materials boast excellent high-temperature resistance, enabling stable operation in environments up to 1200℃. Additionally, they feature superior oxidation and corrosion resistance, which prevents damage caused by high-temperature oxidation or medium corrosion during heat treatment, thus ensuring uncompromised workpiece quality.


Structural Design
1. Shape Structure

Common shapes include round and square. Round trays are compatible with the vertical cylindrical structure of pit furnaces, facilitating vertical loading of long shaft workpieces via hoisting. Some trays adopt a concentric ring structure with radial reinforcing ribs, which not only ensure air permeability but also enhance structural strength.


2. Hole Design

To enable uniform contact between workpieces and furnace atmosphere, trays are usually designed with holes. The hole area is maximized on the premise of ensuring structural strength, with symmetrical and even distribution. This promotes heat transfer while preventing cracking during quenching.


3. Auxiliary Structures

Some trays are equipped with anti-falling plates and ash guide plates. These components prevent workpiece slag from falling into the furnace chamber, eliminate potential safety hazards, and simplify cleaning procedures.

Type Characteristics
Standard Trays

Simple to manufacture and resistant to deformation, these trays can be flipped upside down for use, ensuring a long service life. However, the guide rails require installation of guiding devices.


Bottom-guided Trays

These trays ensure stable pushing during operation and simplify the structure of guide rails. Nevertheless, the grooved design is prone to deformation in use. The width of the guide groove should be 5mm–10mm wider than the top of the rail, and both the groove surface and the ribs must undergo machining.


Non-quenching Trays

After being moved out of the furnace, the trays are supported on the guide rails via two lugs. The trays are then flipped to allow workpieces to automatically fall into the quenching tank. Since the trays do not undergo quenching and avoid drastic temperature changes, they feature an extended service life.


Dimensions and Specifications
The dimensions of the trays are usually determined based on the furnace chamber size of pit furnaces and the size and weight of workpieces. Common specifications include 350mm×300mm×180mm and 500mm×500mm×300mm. Customized sizes are also available to meet specific customer requirements.
